Growth Groups
We have a number of different growth-groups at Christ Church Horam, in which different members of our church family meet in order to:
Each group meets twice a month in a number of different homes and at a number of different times to cater for everyone’s needs. |
Here’s what you can expect from joining a Church Growth Group:
1. A Place to Connect
Growth groups are about more than just attending a church service. They provide an opportunity to connect with others on a personal level. You'll meet people who may become lifelong friends, share prayer requests, and have honest conversations about your spiritual journey. It's a place to belong, especially if you're new to the church or are looking for a deeper connection within the community.
2. Bible Study and Teaching
Each group typically dives deeper into the Bible, with discussions that help apply Scripture to everyday life. Whether you’re studying a sermon series, a specific book of the Bible, or topical issues, the focus is on learning together and growing in your understanding of God’s Word. It's a chance to ask questions, explore faith, and get clarity on parts of Scripture that might be confusing.
3. Spiritual Growth and Discipleship
A key aspect of a growth group is discipleship—learning how to live out your faith in practical ways. Growth groups offer the support and accountability needed to help you live out Christian values in your everyday life, whether that’s at home, at work, or in the community. Through group discussions, prayer, and shared experiences, you’ll grow in your relationship with God and be encouraged to take next steps in your walk with Christ.
4. Prayer and Support
One of the most powerful elements of a growth group is the opportunity to pray with and for one another. You’ll be able to share personal challenges, ask for prayer, and experience the comfort of knowing others are lifting you up. This creates a strong support system, where members walk alongside each other in both the highs and lows of life.
5. Service and Outreach
Many growth groups also look for ways to serve the local community together—whether it’s through outreach projects, volunteering, or supporting local charities. Being part of a growth group helps you live out your faith not just in words, but in action, serving others in the name of Jesus.
6. A Safe Environment for Growth
The environment of a growth group is designed to be welcoming, open, and non-judgmental. It’s a place where everyone is encouraged to share their thoughts, doubts, and insights. Whether you’re a new believer or have been walking with God for years, growth groups allow for honest conversations and growth in a safe space where everyone is respected.
7. A Commitment to Community
Joining a growth group is a commitment to being part of a smaller community within the larger church family. It’s an opportunity to build lasting relationships and be supported by others who are also committed to growing in their faith. These groups are a great way to nurture authentic friendships that extend beyond Sunday services.
Why Should You Join?
In summary, attending a church growth group is about more than just learning—it’s about growing together, supporting one another, and living out your faith as a community. It’s a wonderful opportunity to dig deeper into God’s Word, make lifelong connections, and experience the kind of church family that helps you thrive in your relationship with Christ.
